New 2011 Talent: Jackie Evancho

Jackie Evancho was born on April 9th, 2000. After watching the movie The Phantom of the Opera, she began to sing constantly. Jackie’s singing talent soon became evident and her mother allowed her to participate in a talent competition. She became runner-up in the contest, beaten by a 20-year-old opera singer.

Jackie Evancho is no ordinary singer. Jackie has a beautiful voice and an extraordinary talent: the ability to sing like a perfessional opera singer. She proved her skill to the world on the TV show “America’s Got Talent.” 

Jackie enjoys many other activities besides singing. She loves to swim, dance, tennis, write stories, poems, songs, and play her violin and piano,  hang out with my friends and play with her pet duck.

She recently made an appearance on Wizard of Waverly Place as a girl singing 'America the Beautiful'. Hopefully we hear more good Jackie news soon!

Person of the Week: Willow Smith

You may know Willow Smith from acting alongside her famous father, Will Smith in the movie I Am A Legand, but (just like her dad) this nine-year-old can do more than just act, and recently released her first single Whip My Hair on Jay-Z’s music label Roc Nation.

Willow and her older brother, actor Jaden Smith, are both youth ambassadors for Project Zambia, which helps children orphaned by AIDS in Africa.Willow is the daughter of actor/rapper Will Smith and actress , and is fast Jada Smith following in her parents’ famous footsteps. She’s been cast in movies with her dad and, at just nine years old, won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film for her role as Countee Garby in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.
Willow thinks her record deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label is a result of “all my hard work paying off.” Her video for Whip My Hair leaked onto the Internet on September 7, 2010, and went viral in no time.

The two singers/actresses were photographed wearing the same red Dolce & Gabbana brocade cocktail dress just a day apart.

Selena Gomez wore a more appropriate version of this dress at the 2011 Disney Kids & Family upfront at Gotham Hall in New York City on March 16.

Christina Aguilera wore a more revealing version of the dress while attending a press conference for her new show, “The Voice” at L.A. Center Studios in Los Angeles on March 15.

Why I Chose Her:

1. Her first single 'Who Says' for her new album was recently released.
2. She is an amazing role model to little girls (like me)!!!
3. She has managed to stay stable unlike most [former] Disney stars
4. She has been having problems (such as girl my age who have been diagnosed with Bieber Fever punching her in the face)  due to the fact that she's currently dating Justin Bieber.
5. Her Disney show 'Wizards of Waverly Place' will end it last season this year.
